New Delhi. Aviation company Jet Airways is on the verge of bankruptcy. In such a situation, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has tied up with Air India for Test matches up to South Africa series. If things go well between the two and the board is happy with the services of Air India, then a series agreement can be converted into an annual agreement.

A source close to the management of Air India has confirmed this and said that so far the agreement has been for only the South Africa series. The source said that we shook hands with the BCCI. A BCCI official said that the jet is over the market and hence the board wants to work with Air India.

There may also be an annual agreement

The board says that if things go well with Air India, then a series agreement could be converted into an annual agreement. The agreement with Jet was within India, but at the beginning of this domestic season, we will now have to look at the options and hence we took this decision. Before going with Jet Airways in 2016, BCCI had an agreement with Air India.

It was difficult to go to England

Significantly, after the Jet Airways service stopped, the Indian team had trouble going to play England World Cup. In fact, the BCCI management had booked tickets for Indian players to Jet Airways, as the same airline company was the flight partner of the Indian team at that time, but later the Indian players went to London on another flight.
