The State Operations Cell of Punjab Police has registered a criminal case against Punjab Vigilance Bureau AIG Ashish Kapoor for raping a woman and running an extortion racket.
Kapoor is accused of raping and intimidating a woman and running an extortion racket from jail.
The victim, who is a 37-year-old woman from Kurukshetra , in her complaint on June 26, 2014, said that the accused vigilance officer raped her and falsely implicated her in a serious case. He also claimed that the officer looted 37 lakh rupees and 550 grams of gold ornaments.
The police had recorded the victim’s statement under section 171 of CRPC . In her complaint, the woman mentioned that AIG Ashish Kapoor used her position at the Zirakpur police station in Mohali to register a false case against her.
The victim, who is a 36-year-old woman from Kurukshetra, said that the accused officer raped her and implicated her in a fake case.
